Day Trip with Arturo 2

After checking out the South Victoria Trail, and finishing up photographing the old farm yard, Arturo and I headed south.  We headed across country on gravel roads and soon made a stop at yet another abandoned old house.  This one was also in very poor condition, and won't be long for this world.  The porch roof had collapsed and some of the side walls per in the process of losing their battle with gravity.  By this time it was getting to be late afternoon and the lower warm light was becoming spectacular.  We photographed at this house, before moving off further south.
It had been our intention all day long to check out an old community hall.  I had shot there before some years ago.  Recently our friend Fred explored there and shared some of his photos.  Our timing was perfect as it was early evening by the time we arrived at the hall.  The interior was heavily vandalized but the exterior of the building looked spectacular in the low, warm evening light.  We spent quite a bit of time here photographing the exterior of the old building.  While we were there a neighbor rode up on a horse to check out what we were doing.  He was really friendly and gave us some history on the old building.  The land was given to the community by a local farmer when the hall was built in 1933.  It was shut down in the 1980's by the board of health.  Apparently they didn't like the idea of food and drink being served in a building with no running water, and no bathroom facilities other than an outhouse.  Another instance of government sticking its nose where it doesn't belong.
