This is the image that I selected for the August page of my 2024 David Thompson Country calendar. With the recent wildfire in Jasper, this image is kind of foreboding.... This is the aftermath of the Spreading Creek Wildfire. It started in Banff National Park back in 2014 and burned down the North Saskatchewan River Valley towards the Kootenay Plains. It made it as far as Whirlpool Point before being brought under control. I shot this with my large format view camera in the late summer. I can't remember the year... I think 2021.
