This image was taken a short time after I shot the previously posted one. This is just a little further down Buckskin Gulch, as I hiked the Vermillion Cliffs National Monument with my friends Rob and Brad. At this time in my photo career I was using a large and heavy Ries wood Tripod. In later years I graduated to a lighter carbon fiber Gitzo. I remember laboring with this heavy tripod and Brad noticed. He offered to carry the "pile of lumber" for me, so I could have a bit of a break. Even at that, the backpack that I had with my camera, lenses and film holders still weighed about 35 Lbs.
I shot this with my Ebony view camera and a wide 80mm Lens. A #8 Yellow Filter was used to lighten the foliage and create some separation in the sky. I shot this on a sheet of Fuji Neopan Acros 100, rated at 64 iso, and given normal development in Rodinal 1:50.
