Land of Living Skies is the slogan for the province of Saskatchewan. It certainly is true, although Alberta is very similar. The clouds that were building in this shot eventually turned into a severe thunderstorm and tornado that dumped about five inches of rain on the area. At this time, earlier in the day, the clouds were not nearly so threatening.
I shot this on September 18th of 2024 at about 2:45 in the afternoon. This was my second trip to Saskatchewan last year, and on this one Margarit and I were out for a week of exploring together.
I shot this on a sheet of Kodak T-Max 100 in a ReadyLoad film packet. The film expired in 2009, but as you can see it worked just fine. I rated the film at 80 iso and gave normal development in 510 Pyro at 1:100.
This stately willow tree was along the boundary of a grain field, south of Kincaid, Saskatchewan. I shot this with my Ebony view camera and a long 400mm lens. A #25 Red Filter increased contrast and separation, particularly in the clouds. The exposure was for 1/2 second at F25.
