The Beer Parlour Project - BP 24.0 - Alix Hotel

On Saturday April 26th, Margarit and I met up with Chris and Connie at the Alix Hotel.  The place was really busy as not only was it a warm beautiful day, but there was a pool tournament going on.  We spent the afternoon talking to anyone and everyone.  Chris did a bunch of interviews and I took a number of portraits with the big view camera.
At one point Margarit convinced two big, burly, biker-looking dudes, who were unknown to each other, to pose at the bar for a portrait.  The servers poured a couple of colorful, girly looking cocktails, and we put little paper umbrellas in them.  They guys were good sports and cooperated with the whole thing.
We also did an interview and portraits with the owner Barb, and she took us for a tour of the property.  The building dates back to around 1904, and is the oldest hotel we have visited so far for the project.  The structure sits rather proud and plumb and square considering it's age.
The tavern is called Big Bubba's and the attached restaurant is called Sally's Kitchen.  Both are named after Barb's pet dogs.
We hung around until mid evening when the pool tournament ended and all the patrons began to venture home.  It was a great afternoon and we enjoyed a couple of cold ones, as well as a few snacks.  Margarit and I drove back home to Edmonton that night.  Chris and Connie returned to Stettler and stayed there for the night.  They spent the next day on a short hike around the lake in Alix, as well as exploring some nearby small towns.
This was hotel number 24 on the growing list of establishments visited by the Beer Parlour Project team.  We have actually made close to 30 outings, as at least four or five establishments were visited more than once.
