On April 25th the Beer Parlour Project team visited the Stettler Hotel. Margarit and I met up with Chris there on Friday afternoon. Connie was unable to join us.
The tavern was pretty quiet that night, and there were only a handful of patrons. We managed to interview and photograph a couple of them, as well as to take some photographs of the exterior of the building. The original building was lost to fire, a common fate of many of these old hotels. The current building was constructed in the 1940's.
Kimberley, the owner of the hotel since 2013 has put a great deal of effort into upgrading the hotel. At the time of our visit the roof was in the process of being replaced. The building is currently up for sale.
Kimberley is a certified piano instructor and gives lessons. She has a grand piano set up in the tavern and played for us.
We took two rooms in the hotel and stayed for the night. They were very clean and comfortable and quite affordable, and we quite enjoyed our stay. After we checked out we headed over to a local breakfast buffet. Chris blasted over to Red Deer to pick up Connie. She had come up from Calgary on the bus and would join us for the second part of our adventure.
