Being the old geezers that we are, Margarit and I turned in on New Year's Eve at about 11:00. We missed the entire spectacle of the year turning over to 2024. I remember hearing the neighbors whooping and hollering, and a few fireworks going off as I lay in bed, half asleep.
On New Year's Day we got up and made a nice leisurely brunch of bacon and eggs, with hash browns and coffee. It was colder when we first got up... around -10C, but warmed up to near freezing by afternoon. Later in the day we unpacked a whole bunch of stuff that we had stored in the crawl space of the main cottage.
This was all decor stuff that we had accumulated over the past year or so, for the guest cottage. This included all sorts of cool knick knacks, appliances and dishes. We had cushions for the loveseat and chair, an old phone, an electric fan, some old suitcases, and diner stuff for the kitchen table. We dug out all this stuff, unpacked it, and put most of it out on display.
