I continue with my sporadic blog postings in light of my lack of mobility. I'm really not complaining. To begin with the injury was somewhat self-inflicted. And there are a lot of people, with severe and permanent disabilities and illnesses that have it a lot worse than I do. I am slowly on the mend, and things will return to some semblance of normal in the coming days and weeks.
The deadline to deliver my framed print for the InFocus exhibition has come and gone. Fortunately the organizers, Alexis and Aaron, granted me a little extra time to finish mine, given the circumstances. I believe that the installation starts on Thursday, and the exhibition runs from February 3rd to April 24th. The opening party is on the evening of February 6th, and all are invited. Check the project website for additional details... https://www.infocusphoto.ca/
My injury is slowly healing and I am able to stand with most of my weight on my good leg, for short periods of time. So, over the past several days I managed to cut mounts and mats for my print, dry mount and spot the print, and assemble the frame. Fortunately I had some stock acrylic of the correct size, and a frame previously cut. I made my print shortly before I injured myself. I finished everything up earlier today, and have my print packed up and ready to deliver. I will make it into the show in the nick of time. The theme of this year's exhibition is "Light and Shadow".
The print is of Silent City, at Bryce Canyon National Park. I took this shot on my first trip down to southern Utah in October of 2013. I was joined by my good friends Rob and Brad on this trip. I shot this on Infrared film with my Ebony view camera. The print is 16" x 20" and the overall frame size is approx. 24" x 30".
