The Renegades played the first game of the Semi-Final Round last night. We played the Padres at KofC Arena. It was a closely matched, hard fought game. By the third period we had begun to get used to their style, and started to play successfully against them. We were ahead by a score of 3-1 in the third period. They got a goal at about the halfway point of the third period to make it close. Then late in the game they pulled their goalie for an extra attacker. They managed to bang in a goal with 17 seconds left, to tie the game. Not to be outdone, we rallied in the 3 on 3 overtime. One of our forwards was really solid in their corner, holding onto the puck and fighting for position. He managed to feed a pass out into the slot, where our defensemen stepped in and banged a slap shot over the goalie's blocker for the victory... 20 seconds into overtime.
One more win and we will advance to the Divisional Championship Round. We have two cracks at it, starting on Sunday afternoon.
