On Saturday October 24th Helena and I spent a low key day down in the badlands. It started out partly clear in the morning, but quickly clouded over and by lunch time it was overcast. The temperature only got up to about 5 degrees, and there was a brisk northwest breeze. It was still pretty muddy everywhere from the rain and snow the day before. Hiking into the badlands was not really an option.
We took a drive up to Wayne, then to Nacmine, and later to Bleriot. The south Dinosaur Trail is closed between Nacmine and the ferry and has been all summer. I believe there was some sort of landslide that wiped out a small section of the road, and it hasn't been repaired yet.
Later in the afternoon we went back to the Newcastle Hotel and played pool. Helena quite likes the game since we discovered it for her the other day. Later still we headed into Drumheller and went downtown to the Vintage. Helena really liked the Mac and Cheese she had there a couple of days prior, and wanted another dose.
In the evening we just headed back to East Coulee. I didn't feel great as I was rather chilled, and I'm still fighting this cold or flu or Covid or whatever it is I've had for the past month. We walked around the streets of East Coulee after dark, but I didn't last very long and we ended up back at the trailer in rather short order.
