Helena and I brought a few concretions back with us from Carolside Reservoir. I knew that marine fossils are regularly found there, often in concretions. On Thursday morning we took a hammer and broke them all open. Only one of them contained a fossil. This is a clam called Inoceramus.
Helena actually found this one. It was a beautiful day on Thursday and the temperature got up to about 23C. We went back out to Carolside for a while and busted open a bunch more concretions, but didn't find any other fossils. Later, when we got back to the shop, Frank helped Helena to stabilize the fossil by applying a coating of plastic resin to the loose parts. She was pretty excited about it.
Later in the evening we went into town and had something to eat at the Vintage Tap House in the Alexandra Hotel.
