On July 7th I headed out to the Castledowns Arena for a Renegades Hockey Game. We had just come off the lop-sided victory a couple of nights prior, and were already playing again.
I had to pass on the opportunity to attend the Edmonton Elks football game as that was in conflict with the hockey game. It was just as well as the Elks got spanked by the Calgary Stampeders by a score of 49-6. The team is certainly not doing very well this year.
In contradiction to that, the Renegades are doing really well in the latter half of the season. We lost a few games to start the season buy have since been on a roll and now have a .500 record with 5 wins, 5 losses, one tie and one overtime loss. We defeated the Chiefs by a score of 8-3.
Just before the game started a nasty looking thunderstorm rolled through the city. The football game had to be halted to allow the storm to pass, before the game resumed. Just as I arrived at the arena for my hockey game, the clouds burst open and the storm dumped an exceptional amount of rain. But it was very shortlived and by the time I got out of the rink after the game, the storm was long gone.
