In the last week of November there were a couple of opportunities to play hockey. I had a really bad cold, but hoped that the exercise and a good hard skate would help me shake it off. Not sure if it really worked, but I'm finally feeling better now.
We had a chance to go and play an exhibition team against a team from St. Albert. They are a pretty skilled team and it always has ended up a fast and hard played game. This time was no exception. I was hoping for a fairly easy skate as the cold that I was fighting was really coming on. Only seven players and a goalie showed up and it ended up to be much more of a workout that I hoped.
We played game 7 or our regular season against a team called the Spiderpigs. This was on Friday November 27th up at Castledowns Arena. We ended up winning this game by a score of 7-4.
Then last night we played a game against a team called the Clansmen. This section of our schedule includes a number of teams from Division 7 of the other conference in our league. We have not played these teams before and will not play them on a regular basis. We jumped out to an early 4-1 lead but then got into penalty trouble. We managed to hang on for a 7-6 victory. It was a late game, starting at 10:30PM on a Sunday. By the time I got home, got to bed, and unwound enough to fall asleep, it was nearly 3:00AM. Sure made it tough to get up for work when the alarm went off at 7:00AM.
