After finishing up shooting at Portal Creek, Steve and Jon and I headed down the road to Athabasca Falls. There were some cool clouds hanging in the valley in front of Mount Kerkeslin. The water level was really low and the waterfall certainly didn't look as spectacular as it does earlier in the season. The low water did lend itself to creating some ice formations on the rocks around the falls, and they looked pretty cool. It always feels really cold here by the falls in the winter months. The crashing water puts a lot of moisture into the air and the humidity makes it feel a lot colder than other areas.
We wandered about for a while, taking some digital snapshots. There were quite a number of tourists wandering around... by winter standards. None of us really felt compelled to drag out our film cameras and attempt to shoot anything so after a while we continued on...
