The kitchen renovations continue. The new cabinets were delivered on Tuesday June 30th... just before the Canada Day holiday. The contractor took Canada Day off, but then returned to the job on Thursday July 2nd. The cabinet installation got underway and continued on Friday July 3rd. The project has now been ongoing for over a month. It has been a challenge to split our time between living here at the house, and staying with my Mom at her place. It is a real challenge to function here at our place as we have no kitchen, and the other rooms of the house are jammed full of all the stuff that has been temporarily packed up from our kitchen. I stay at our place on work nights as it makes my morning commute easier. Margarit and the girls often spend the days here. But meals and many evenings are spent out at my Mom's place. We are lucky that she has so much space and was kind enough to offer to us the opportunity to stay with her. I'm sure she is getting pretty tired of all the noise and commotion that three young girls create. And, as grateful as we are, it will be nice to finally return to our own space. We have added some additional work to the project so the contractor will be at our place longer than originally expected. But, once we get the kitchen looked after and can set things back up again, then life will return to some semblance of normal. The extra work, which includes painting the hallway, replacement of some interior doors, casings and baseboards throughout the main floor, and installation of ceramic floor tile at the rear entry, can proceed once the kitchen is back in order.
