Summer Hockey - Winding Down

Life has been really busy the past few weeks.  The girls have finished up in school, and I've been involved in some business dealings down the in Drumheller area.  We also just wrapped up the Pohl Family Reunion.  I hope to find some time in the near future to update my blog and post some information about all of these recent activities.
In between all that I've managed to get out and play hockey four times.  Unfortunately the Renegades are mired in an awful losing streak.  We have completed 14 games of the 15 game summer season, and have only managed four wins all season.  With one game remaining we are currently out of playoff contention.
Not to make excuses, but this has just not been our year.  There have been issues with player availability and we have not been able to play with a full bench and consistent lines all season.  There have also been issues with officiating.  We have one last shot at making the post season.  We might be able to just sneak into the last playoff spot if we can win our last game, coming up this Friday.  If we can make it in, then we will have a chance for at least a couple of playoff games before the season comes to an end.  If we can't pull it together and scratch out a victory, then our season will come to an end this week.
Planning is already underway for the upcoming winter season.  I have started signing players to the winter roster and collecting league fees.  The 30 game winter season starts at the beginning of September.  So, one way or another there will be a short break from hockey...
