Beluga Whale Skeleton

I was down in Drumheller at the beginning of the week for some business meetings and had a chance to stop by the shop.  At Palcoprep we have just finished up casting and mounting a skeleton of a Beluga whale.  This is about to be packaged for shipment to the Assiniboine Park Zoo in Winnipeg.  Molds were made from the original bones of a Beluga and then casts were made from these molds.  The casts were then articulated onto a steel armature for display.  We are just putting the finishing touches to the specimen before disassembling it for packaging and eventual shipment.  The installation is scheduled for early May of this year.  I am always amazed by how different the skeleton of a whale looks, from the living, fleshed out animal.
