In late July our cousins from Austria travelled to Canada for a visit. This was their fourth time in Western Canada so obviously something keeps drawing them back. They landed in Calgary, rented a motorhome, and headed out into the mountains on their own for a few days.
I booked my first summer vacation in several years. This time I managed to take four days off from work. But, combined with the upcoming August Long Weekend, and the weekend following, it allowed us eight days to travel with our relatives. We packed up the trailer and left the city on Friday August 3rd. We met up with Martina and Karl at the TL Bar Ranch down along the Red Deer River. My brother-in-law Shawn [also a cousin to Martina and Karl] and his kids met us down there as well.
The first evening we just reconnected with family, set up camp, and settled down beside a fire. There was a beautiful badlands sunset, a great start to what would be a very enjoyable but brief vacation.
