Renegades Hockey Team - South Division 7 Champions

The team went into game two of the final round on Saturday afternoon.  Unlike all those late games during the regular season, when almost no one is in the stands, we had a pretty good sized group of spectators, including all of my girls.
We jumped out to a lead with the first goal, only to see the Canadian Mooseheads tie it a short time later.  This pattern was repeated through the entire game.  We were never behind, but also never ahead by more than a goal.
We were ahead five-to-four late in the third period when the Mooseheads scored, with 50 seconds remaining, to tie the game.  We called a time out, gathered ourselves together, put our best players out on the ice, and put together one final push.  One of our defensemen made an end to end rush, showing a huge amount of determination, and scored to win the game, with 12 seconds left of the clock.  We hung on after the last face off for the win, and a sweep of the Mooseheads.
So we are the champions of our division, for the winter season.  There was a trophy, but we didn't touch it...  as that would be unlucky...!  There's still one more prize to play for... the City Championship against the winners of the North Division 7.  At the time of our victory this was not yet decided but yesterday, the Padres won the north division.  We will face them in the championship beginning on Wednesday.
So, it will be at least another week before I can shave off this itchy beard.  In the mean time, the league gave us these swanky hats...!!
